Giving Thanks in 2020!
24/11/20Thanksgiving is the most widely celebrated holiday in the United States. It embraces every citizen, visa holder and visitor. It brings together friends and families with diverse religious and cultural backgrounds. Giving thanks is something everyone can relate to whether you celebrate with a roasted turkey or vegetarian Tofurky! 2020 has been a tough year for everyone. While our celebrations may be a bit different, there is still plenty to give thanks for!
For me it is giving thanks for my family and their continued health. These past few months have really strengthened the bond I have with my two young sons. Then it is thanks to my friends who have supported my transition from Foreign Service Officer, representing my country at Embassies abroad, to advising clients on their immigration journey.
I want to give thanks to my clients for trusting me with their stories and allowing me to help them bring their families together. While I will only name a few here, all of my clients are dear to me! I am particularly thankful to Neil and Marianna (IR1), my first clients, who are spending this Thanksgiving in Florida with their lovely daughters.
I am thankful for the many USCIS and Department of State expedite approvals we have received; Chantal and David (CRI), Kristy and Gilberto (CR1) and Wassim and Ammara (CR1)! Many of my clients will be reunited by Christmas, now there’s something to be thankful for! Finally, I want to thank my clients who are still on their journey. For example, Auday and his parents Amirah and Khalid (IR5 Parents of a U.S. Citizen). While their visa category isn’t being interviewed at the moment, they are a lovely family and I know they will be reunited in 2021!
